Haunting Adeline Audiobook Review
A current English edition of H. D. Carlton’s dark-romance bestseller, performed as the first book in the Cat and Mouse Duet.
A little more about the listen
Haunting Adeline is built for readers who want dark romance pushed into psychological-thriller territory. The story places an isolated gothic setting, obsession and danger at the centre of the listening experience, so the right question is not whether it is gentle or universally appealing—it is whether the intensity and content fit the listener.
The listening experience
The current English edition is a multi-narrator production rather than a simple single-voice read. Teddy Hamilton and Michelle Sparks anchor the central perspective, with Tempest Mensah and Grayson Owens widening the cast. That gives the Cat and Mouse Duet a clearer dramatic shape, while the long runtime allows the atmosphere and escalating tension to take over.
Best for
Listeners who specifically want extreme dark romance, gothic atmosphere, high-stakes obsession and a cast-led performance.
The honest note
This is not a safe general-romance recommendation. The book contains disturbing themes, violence, coercion and other material that may be upsetting; check current content guidance before choosing it. It is also Book 1 of a duet, so the first credit begins a larger commitment rather than delivering a self-contained arc.
