The Measure Audiobook Review
A mysterious box gives everyone a string that appears to reveal how long they will live.
A little more about the listen
The Measure takes the question of whether you would want to know your future and turns it into a social experiment. Its strongest moments arrive when characters decide what to do with knowledge that cannot be neatly unlearned.
The listening experience
Julia Whelan brings warmth and clarity to an ensemble story that moves between private fear and public consequence.
Best for
Listeners who want a contemporary, society-wide version of the life-choice question.
The honest note
The novel is earnest and ensemble-driven, with several viewpoints rather than one central puzzle-box protagonist.
Worth considering for listeners who want a contemporary, society-wide version of the life-choice question. The honest note is the deciding reservation to weigh before spending a credit: The novel is earnest and ensemble-driven, with several viewpoints rather than one central puzzle-box protagonist.
